Few Marlborough businesses can trace their origins as far back as Cresswell Electrical Limited. The company was established in 1878 as a Blacksmith Shop, located in "Marlborough Town" - now known as Spring Creek by Robert Cresswell.
In 1925-26 the Marlborough Electric Power Board formed and wiring of premises around the district began.
R. Cresswell and Sons Limited took the challenge with Fenwick Cresswell becoming a registered electrician, and in 1957 he was appointed manager of R. Cresswell and Sons Limited until his death in 1966.
Noel Cresswell served an electrical apprenticeship and became registered in 1957, he succeeded Fenwick in 1966.
In the early 1980's R. Cresswell and Sons Limited ceased to trade and Cresswell Electrical Contracting was born in its place. Noel Cresswell continued to manage the company until his retirement in 1988 when it was sold to Dave Noad and John Mackey.
138 years later and now known as Cresswell Electrical Limited, the company continues to serve the Marlborough region as a well respected locally owned and operated business.
